Totally Luxe Drug Store Beauty Buys

High quality drug store makeup

Like many gals, I’ve been known to splurge on designer cosmetics. There’s no denying that glamorous feeling that comes from whipping out a beautifully packaged lip gloss. (I’m looking at you, YSL Lèvres Glossy Stain!)  But there’s also no denying there are plenty of products out there which are comparable to luxury ones and half the price. Since the New Year is the perfect time for adopting better habits, I found a few budget-friendly, drugstore products to replace some luxury brand go-to’s.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel: I found I could skip the salon occasionally and do gel at home. I am by no means a great manicurist, but this polish goes on smoothly, evenly and doesn’t require a lamp. The polish lasts about 7 days before chipping.

Sonia Kashuk Perfecting Illuminator: This stuff works miracles on skin, giving it that healthy glow and making it look incredibly smooth. The formula restores skin’s elasticity and improves brightness over time. I apply it all over my face under my tinted moisturizer and it gives me a long-lasting shimmer.

Sonia Kashuk Radiant Tinted Moisturizer: A $13 tinted moisturizer that stays all day and helps stimulate collagen production to keep skin cells looking stronger and younger? Sold. Goes on super smooth and conceals wonderfully, but lightly.

NYX Matte Finish Spray: My skin gets really dry in the winter, so I’ve replaced my finishing powder with setting spray. It leaves a dewy finish with no shine.

Sonia Kashuk Brushes: I haven’t replaced my eye makeup brushes in far too long. Sonia Kashuk’s professional quality brushes are not only a great price, but some are truly works of art. How good would this gorgeous set on your vanity?

As for my YSL lip stain fetish, I’ve been advised to try L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Wet Shine Stain which not only comes in a lovely tube, but being owned by Lancome, helps make L’Oreal one of the best drugstore brands out there.
