I came across this heart-wrenchingly true quote, “One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying those roses that are blooming outside our windows today.” (Courtesy of one of Dale Carnegie’s corporate leadership pieces.) It inspired me to re-prioritize enjoying that I have and wanting nothing more. If you’re particularly boss at doing that, share your tips below!
While we are on the topic of priorities- comfort is one of mine; especially while on vacation. I practically lived in these shoes while we were in Portland (as you might expect from the last post). Why not?
Wearing: Vince leather jacket / Marc by Marc Jacobs jeans (with DIY holes) / Rag and Bone tank (white not avaialble, similar here and here) / DV by Dolce Vita flats / Reiss bag / Karen Walker Super Duper Strength sunglasses
P.S. I am participating in a fairly epic giveaway that you may want to enter!
After college, I was more than partial to black outfits. I mean head-to-toe, no-regard-for-seasons black wardrobe for an entire year. Now, several (not that anyone is counting) years later, I’m resistant to the dark monochrome strategy; yet something about this dress and some casual shoes seems perfect. Wonderfully comfortable too.
Summer doesn’t mean tucking all of your dark colored clothes away (I’m looking at you, New Yorkers), it just means wearing them in lightweight, breathable fabrics. I am obsessed with this lace top for it’s gorgeous scalloped details and it’s versatility. When I saw it online it reminded me of my lace Joie top and I had to have it.
What beats a great pair of ‘adult-length’ denim shorts? Nothing. At the risk of being completely predictable, basic pieces like these shorts (last seen here) are the key to creating a versatile wardrobe based on items you are actually thrilled to wear. The biggest plus is they’ll go with everything. Stay tuned for more ‘Versatile Wardrobe Staples’ as I continue this TBD length series next week.
Lately, there hasn’t been a decent pair of boyfriend jeans I can so ‘no’ to. Same goes for t-shirts, specifically the striped variety. Layer with a military vest and some sexy sandals and I’m (comfortably) all over it.
There is no easier outfit to put together than a maxi dress and sandals. I almost feel like I am cheating when I put it on. Especially since they’re so dang comfortable.
I wore this for some last minute trip prep. Read: Shopping. When comfort and agility are necessary, there is rarely a better option than Birkenstocks. I paired my jeans with a smart blazer to dress it up a bit. For night, I’d add heels (reluctantly) and a statement necklace like I did here.
