The White Lace Shirt Dreams are Made of

black Mother jeans

I never thought I’d say this, but I love showing a little bit of midriff. Just a little. Like, under a semi-sheer shirt especially one like this that is pretty intricate so you can’t really make out my core in detail (thankfully) but, but you show just the right amount of skin.  This French brand I just discovered, Sezane makes the best intricate lace blouses ever. I currently have two in my closet and a shopping cart full of about a half-dozen more. (This one is so cute!) Of course, you can wear a cami under if you’re not in to showing your skin or you live somewhere chilly. Most of Sezane‘s tops are perfect holiday-season and I love how they can be worn casual or dressy, but what I find even better is that you can wear them after the holidays too. I mean, plaid is classic and perfect for the holiday season, but will you wear that plaid holiday piece in April? Probably not. You know I am all about streamlining my clothes by finding things you can wear all year round and I would wear most of their clothes 365 days a year. So French, non?

Harlowe’s dress ripped and I didn’t have anything else packed for her so we tied it up with one of her scrunchies! So disappointed it ripped, but that’s what I get for getting her a maxi dress her little feet could step on.

How sweet is she? I couldn’t resist posting that one! I have a few more posts up my sleeve for holiday dressing so stay tuned and please let me know in the comments below what you think of showing your midriff off. PS this post is not sponsored at all I just love their stuff to pieces.

Dressed For Fall

bethann wagner
Hi friends and happy November! Lately, I’ve been living in workout clothes which are typically my go-to because then I always have the right thing on if I get the chance to the gym or be active at some point in the day. Earlier this week, I made a video haul on my new activewear for fall and it’s a good one! When I do have a reason to dress up, I usually reach for dresses even in the Fall. Fall dresses just might be the best dresses out there. They’re easy to layer, comfortable and make me feel great. When it comes to pattered dresses, I like to keep the print on as small a scale as possible so it doesn’t overpower my 5’4″ frame. This dress is my perfect match! Not only does it have a wonderful little print, but the colors are perfect for Fall and the I think the cut is just lovely. I love the juxtaposition of the long and elegant hem, but playful and trendy top. As you can tell, it’s pretty difficult not to twirl around in.

I wore my Rebecca Accessories heart hoop earrings yet again. They top every outfit off so well. Use code bethann to get 15% off your order!
I’ll have a lot more Fall looks to share with you soon – some cozy and some festive. Certainly a lot of dresses, but in the mean time, be sure to check out my video on Fall Activewear I’m loving! Thank you for reading!

72 degree Fall

Happy first day of Fall! Despite us still wearing shorts and trying to escape the heat, I’m very much dreaming of sipping extra-hot pumpkin spiced lattes in my cardigan and making gluten-free pumpkin muffins with the kids all weekend. I made muffins a few weeks ago because I spotted some pumpkin puree at 365 and couldn’t pass it up. I used this pumpkin muffin recipe and just substitute the whole wheat flower for Bob’s Red Mill All-Purpose Baking Flour. They were gone in less than 24 hours. While nothing can stop me from baking Fall treats, 70+ degrees is not ideal for boots and cardigans. For now, it’s tee shirts and sandals for this Los Angeles-based mama, but believe me I have some cuuuute Fall pieces I want to share with you once I can stand to put them on!

Mom Shorts

Happy Friday, Friends! After recent events, I have a new-found respect for anyone who lives in a humid climate. You are my hero. It’s been muggy in LA (I am sweating as I write this in doors at 8:55pm) and I’m about to lose my mind and all hope of having a frizz-free mane this weekend. We are going to a friend’s pool later today (insert prayer emoji) to cool off, get wet and ring in the weekend. Whatever else we end up doing will involve denim shorts, tank tops and sandals. This outfit is my go-to as of late. The top is so soft and looks great untucked with jeans. It’s billowy, but not too baggy. I like it tucked into these ripped mom shorts that I just can’t seem to take off. Oh and these sandals have a lightly padded sole which is the key to happiness. Honestly, this is one of my favorite looks I’ve ever done an outfit post on because it is so easy to throw on and be comfortable in and look like you made some effort. That’s what this mama is all about!

What are you up to this weekend?

Mommy Daughter Date Night

This summer, Harlowe and I started a new tradition that I’m a  huge fan of: monthly mommy/daughter date nights! I’m not sure who loves them more me or …well, probably me. She gets to choose what we do which has ranged from going to the movies to getting patriotic mani/pedis. Regardless of what’s on deck, she likes to get all dressed up. I think she sees KW and I get ready for date night and she wants to do that too. I’m looking forward to the next one and have so many ideas in my back pocket in case she needs some inspiration. Here’s what I’ve been thinking about:

  1. Trip to any museum. The Getty and The Ice Cream Museum in LA are at the top of my list right now.
  2. High tea
  3. Beach picnic or park picnic if it’s too crowded at the beach
  4. Easy hike
  5. Mermaid school

Do you have any ideas on what we can do next? For our last date, I wore this dress (on sale now!) from Lauren Ralph Lauren. It is out of my comfort zone in that it is more modern and sophisticated than the casual pieces I’ve gravitated towards after leaving my job at Google earlier this year. As soon as I saw it, I couldn’t resist the bell sleeves; they make quite a statement with the laser cut detail. So beautiful! It was super comfortable with a pair of flat espadrilles (also on sale!) and will become a summer staple for date nights with the husband too.

KW shoots all of my photos so the kids are usually with us and Gunnar really wanted to sneak in for a picture too.

Pink and Polka Dots

pink block heel sandals

You know what I am LOVING? Every Who What Wear x Target piece like, ever. After quitting my job at Google to blog/vlog/mother my babies full-time, I realized I have like, zero casual outfits. That combined with my clothing budget being greatly reduced (goes along with saying goodbye to my corporate salary eeekkkkk…. it will pay off, I know it!) has me picking up pieces at budget and style-friendly places like Target, Old Navy, H&M, etc. This dress, although not super-casual (I have a fancy dress problem, guys.) is so breezy and chic, I couldn’t pass it up. I’m going to wear it half-way unbuttoned over jeans in the fall to really maximize my cost-per-wear.

Who What Wear Polka Dot Dress

I wore this to the Fashion Mama’s ‘Mama’s Making It’ Summit at the W in Hollywood last Saturday. It was such an honor (and a huge inspiration) to be there. Stay tuned for a more in-depth recap and some photos of the beautiful event!

Shift into Summer

olive green cover up
Hello and happy Friday! Like many, one of my favorite things about Summer is the longer days. The Banker is home before dark much more often in the Summer so we get to take a family stroll and catch up on the day before the kids go to sleep. It a great way for us to get in some exercise on days where something more intense isn’t possible. I’m wearing a new Tobi shift dress that I’ve been living in this week because it’s been super hot in our house. It’s the kind of lazy-day piece I’ll wear around the house, out to eat with the family (with a little bralette or cami under) and as a cover-up at the pool. Who doesn’t need more pieces like that?

Best Sunscreens for Summer 2017

solid and stripe elle bikini
top & bottoms

You guys, it’s almost the 4th of July! [Insert fireworks emoji.] It’s always so much fun getting people together to celebrate. I love the pool time, the gluten free turkey burger someone always begrudgingly throws on the grill for me and of course, blue and red is one of my favorite color combos. Just not on skin. In exchange for fun in the sun, one must of course wear sunscreen (or you really will be red) so I’ve made you guys a little video about my all time favorite sunscreen products. These are sure to keep you  oiling and lotioning, lotioning and oiling with the best of them all Summer long.

That’s So Meshed Up

at home workouts

If you follow me on Instagram you know I’ve been having trouble prioritizing my workouts lately. I love going to yoga, but it’s been really difficult to get my mat time in. I’ve got 99 excuses, but lack of / love of sleep is the main one. I just started Kayla Itsine’s BBG program and it’s kicking my ass. It’s so convenient too. Each workout is 28 minutes so I do them after I get the kids to sleep at night, but before I Netflix and Chill. I am trying to get up earlier to get my workouts in before the kids wake up so I started a morning bootcamp at my yoga studio which begins at 6:15 (insert yawn face) and lasts for 2 weeks. I’m hoping that morning wakeup call and the joy of having completed a gnarly workout by 7:15 am changes my habit of sleeping in until 6:30-7 everyday. More importantly, I’m hoping it helps me change my habit of staying up until 12am each night.

Trying to look totally ‘natch’ in my new mesh jacket. 🙂
Do you have any habits you are trying to break? Any Summer workout or fitness goals you are trying to make? Whatever it is, remember it IS possible. If I can be at the gym by 6:15 anything is possible! #notamorningperson

What Moves You: Part 2

proud mom moments
I’m honored to have teamed up with Banana Republic once again to share what moves me. I think of my children automatically. A few weeks ago, we went to Mammoth Mountain for the first time. Harlowe had never skied and despite being together since 2009 and having snowboarded several times since then, Kaare and I had never snowboarded together. What?! Unreal I say!

Merino Ruffle Vee Sweater
So when he had to go to Mammoth for work I decided the kids and I should go out and meet him because why should he have to ‘work’ all by himself? 😉 Harlowe went to ski school during the day which was a little overwhelming for her because it was only her 2nd time even seeing snow. (Her first time was actually earlier this month in Palm  Springs!) Anyway, we sent her off to ski school and The Banker and I did a few runs which took me a long time because I am rusty! After a few runs, we went to watch Harlowe and she saw us and had a melt down! Never, ever show up for your kid’s ski lessons. The instructors will hate you and your heart will break when you see your baby crying. It took everything not to pull her out and hug her. She was stronger than me because after we left, we could see her get right up and give it her all until she got up the poma and down the hill ALL BY HERSELF.

To say it was one of my proudest moments is an understatement. Kaare and I were both overwhelmed with joy and pride that she stuck with it and she did it! When asked if she wanted to go again the next day, she said, ‘definitely not’, but she’s talked about her first time skiing every day since so I know how much it meant to her.

The first time I went skiing until I was 17 and my friend’s mom took me and paid for my rentals and lift ticket then graciously taught me to ski. I still remember how much fun it was and how empowered I felt coming down Mt Lemon alone for the first time. It felt like I was going 40mph but I was probably going slower than the small kids. I am so glad that we were able to give Harlowe that experience as a little kid! I honestly think she’s already a better skier than me and it makes Kaare and I so happy that she has these opportunities that neither of us had as kids.

We wrapped up the trio with some breakfast tacos with friends and I wore this ruffle sweater from Banana republic — perfect for colder Spring days like we experienced in Mammoth and on sale! I’ve been loving all things ruffled lately especially when paired with studs like these freakishly good Valentino dupes! Got to have a little bit of edge with your outfit especially when you’re feeling like a bad ass mom after a day ‘sending it’ (slowly but surely)!

Psst… if you missed part one check out 5 things to get down on in honor of International Women’s Day after all, you can do this stuff day, errry day!
