As I write this, Gunnar is chowing down on chow mein and sautéed vegetables using a fork like a little man. Harlowe ate the same thing last night and is getting pretty good at mastering chopsticks. I’m not trying to brag about how good they eat. They eat processed foods, sugary foods, even… gluten. Gasp! I just can’t believe how far both of them have come from the days where the only thing on the menu was milk. It seems like that was yesterday.
They’re getting so independent it kills me. This EZPZ mat has been a huge help for me in that it helps make me more creative about what I put in front of Gunnar. I originally bought it so that he’d have a plate that he couldn’t throw on the ground, but I found that a.) if there is a will there is a way and b.) I get obsessed with offering him 1-2 new flavors with each meal. To my surprise, he loves grilled broccoli. My experience with Harlowe has taught me that he probably tries/likes everything because he’s not mature enough to have an opinion yet, but let’s hope this appreciation for greens sticks. 🙂
I just discovered Baby Cubby which is where I scored the EZPZ mat and his Rags to Raches romper (these rompers always sell out on the Rags site before I grab the ones I want). I really like Baby Cubby because they are there not just to sell “stuff” but to be a resource for us throughout this journey of raising tiny little people.
Speaking of resources, I am going to make a video on a few of the meals that I prepare at home. The kids and I eat the same things for almost every meal and I have gotten a few questions lately about what I eat. I am really excited to share some of my quick and healthy, picky-eater-approved recipes with you and if you have any favorites you want to share with me please do!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Rags to Raches romper and EZPZ mat c/o Baby Cubby P.S. on these rompers, I’d size up two sizes. The site says size up one size for a baggy look, but they run small IMO. Gunnar is a big 18-month-old (100th percentile for height and weight) but he wearing a size 3/4T in Rags rompers.
Hi friends! I hope you’re having a great week so far. I’m reminiscing about family beach time and admittedly counting down the days until we can do it again! It looked cold outside on Sunday so I had everyone dressed for a beach picnic instead of splashing in the water (I don’t know what was in my Starbucks that morning…it ended up being pretty hot). We ordered Mendocino Farms for curbside pickup (they have the best gluten-free bread!) and spent hours building sand castles with Harlowe, splashing in the whitewash (and feeding Gunnar). I’m so glad we finally found a beach we like that isn’t too crowded and only 10 minutes away.

What Harlowe Wore: High-low dress (on sale!) & she and Gunnar shared this sweet hat
Gunnar’s onesie Real talk: If his personality was a onesie it would be this one! (I’ll share more pics of him in it soon.)
Both of our kids have been swaddled since day one and believe me when I say, we’ve tried just about everything to keep them warm and cozy. What I like about Buttermilk Babies swaddles is that while they’re great for swaddling, they can be used for so much more. (Practicality is a must when you are trying to keep the volume of baby stuff down due to limited storage space!) I use these for tummy time, as a nursing cover, stroller cover, changing table cover, cape or dress during impromptu dress-up sessions, you name it. There’s a reason they were just featured in People Magazine’s 7 Great New Baby Gifts That are Both Cute and Practical.
I got the gemstones and graffiti swaddles for our little guy and loved the print so much that I picked up this pack for a girlfriend expecting a baby this Spring. (Your daughter is getting swaddled in style, Chelsey!) If you need baby shower gifts or swaddles for your own little, now is the time to pick some up because you get 20% off your purchase by using the code BLACKFRIDAY now through November 27.
Happy sleeping to hip babies everywhere!
Harlowe and I decided to test out the bandana trend by fashioning matching neck accessories perfect for a gloomy day. I actually bought 12 different colors, but haven’t seen the other 10 since Harlowe found them and decided to build magic carpets all over the house. Better for her to enjoy them than to have them in a drawer I figure!
These jeans were purchased in my pre-pregnancy size. They don’t fit quite right yet. I’m 5-weeks postpartum and my body feels like a stretched-out shoe. I wouldn’t trade this body for anything since it gave me two babies, but dedicating a little bit of time to my health and fitness is going to be a welcome change! Hopefully, I can begin a fitness routine this Friday as I’ll be 6-weeks postpartum. I’m looking forward to sharing my post-pregnancy fitness journey with you! It’s not going to be easy! If you have any tips on balancing family and a fitness regimen or postpartum workouts to share I’d love to hear.

Hi friends! Did you see the blood moon? It was difficult to see in Santa Monica. Angelenos would probably say there was too much ‘haze’ but I think it was smog. I saw a faint outline of it, but mostly just lots of cool pictures on Instagram.
I’ve been living in shirt dresses like this lately. They are effortless to style. I like them dressed up with mules (like these that I scored on The Outnet) and a chain strap bag, but am usually wearing mine dressed down with slip-on flats. Oh, and my diaper bag.
Wearing: shirtdress / bag / sunnies / Tibi mules (old, new ones here — yay for python!)

After discovering the adorable mommy/daughter style blogging duo @ScoutFashion a few months ago, it’s safe to say coordinating mom and me outfits have been on my brain. I love how Scout and her mama pull it off so effortlessly, looking way too-cool-for-school while creating the most fashionable family memories together. All the coordinating mommy/daughter pieces here are on sale for Labor Day making it pretty much necessary to pull the trigger on some synchronized style to play dress up.
What are your Labor Day plans? Any sales you must shop?
One of the things I’ve loved about moving to LA is that it gives us the opportunity to explore many new places. The Venice canals are one of those LA places I’ll probably never tire of. They’re tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city making them a quiet retreat for family walks and an energy recharge. The gondola lined waters and sidewalks lined with big, modern houses bring you from Venice Italy back to Los Angeles just by turing your head another direction. I love being able to have a spot to walk by the water that isn’t quite as crowded as our beautiful beaches.
I’m wearing another dress from Envie de Fraises (see more of their maternity looks here and here) — this dress is so comfortable I wear it at least once a week. It’s easy to dress up with lace-up sandals or dress down with sneakers or Birkenstocks… yes, I love my Birks! 🙂

I’ll be the first to admit I haven’t begun nesting. Now that we are this far in, I’m guessing it’s not happening. Aside from ensuring the necessities: car seat, bassinet, stroller, chilled chardonnay (hey, it’s been 9 months… I’m planning on having a glass the night we get home from the hospital) are secured, it’s safe to say this ‘nesting period’ has been spent taking care of other things (like Harlowe). I know at the end of the day, as long as the baby is loved and fed, everything else will work out so I don’t get too stressed out about it, but there are some things I really want to accomplish before he comes.
As for unnecessary (but fun!) tasks, documenting our family of three, plus bump was fairly high on my prep list. Harlowe turned four this month and her Baby Brother is moments from making his debut so what better time snap a few shots for the family album? We rarely have photos of the three of us because it’s always KW or I behind the lens and this will be the last time we’ll be just the three of us.
Our photographer would tell KW and I to look at each other and Harlowe would say, “You guys, look at me!”

Happy Friday! Before I shut the old lap top down for the weekend, I’m leaving you with some of my favorite small shopping haunts for little ones. These small, but mighty Instagram shops lure me time and time again with their unique, handmade kid’s pieces. If you don’t have little spawn to shop for, the cuteness overload of their posts is still worth checking out! Just think of all the unique baby shower gifts you can impress your friends with thanks to these shops. 🙂
1.@houseofmia Favorite product: Simple skirts. The prints are to die for. Like, I actually want to die when I see them because I know buying them all would deeply disturb my husband, but gosh darn it, I need them all.
2.@modernburlap Favorite product: Organic blankets. I love their simplistic black and white color stories and their hip prints.
3.@KidandKind Favorite product: Bananas tee (as seen on Harlowe) Their collection of graphic tees is out of this world adorable and oh, so cool.
4.@FableBaby Favorite product: anything cactus print. Being from AZ, I adore all things emblazoned with a saguaro cactus including baby clothes. This shop is based in Australia so shipping can be high. Pro tip: order a few pieces at once and save them up for baby showers or kid’s birthdays.
5.@Osusannahs Favorite product: ‘Winky eye’ pillow cases. I have a thing for cute pillows & for sassy lashes. These pillows are unique, sweet and of course, black and white. Are you picking upon a theme here? 🙂
Time to spill. What are some of your favorite Instagram shops?
