How to: pack for business trips

best shoes for business trips, best shoes for work conferences
Wear a nice pair of jeans on the flight  both directions. I keep them moderately casual, but nice enough that I would wear them in front of a client or boss.

Pack two pairs of shoes. Think sophisticated and comfortable. Keep the heel height 4 inches or lower. 3 inch heels are ideal for conferences that will have you standing most of the day. Bring a pair of shoes for running if you like you get your workouts in. These are optional, but come in handy when you’ve been sitting all day and need to use some energy up!

Carry-on a bag of outfits appropriate for meetings, presentations, etc. Dresses work nicely as they take up less space. Lace dresses or dresses with pleats work great because wrinkles show less. Cotton-poly, cotton-Lycra blends are wrinkle resistant so look for those!

Pack a nice top you can wear out to dinner or networking events in the evening. Pair tops with jeans and a simple pair of heels. Another option is to bring a statement necklace and wear it over your day dress making it the perfect night time ensemble.

Bring appropriate undergarments. The more nude pairs you bring the better because animal print booty shorts are the last thing you want to worry about at a conference!

Bring one-two blazers. You can wear these day and night and if you’re careful make one last for 2-3 days. Black is always a good option as it goes with everything and doesn’t show signs of wear as easily as lighter colors.

I hope this helps you on your next trip!

New York Fashion Week Instagram Diary

I had quite a few pictures that I didn’t post during my trip to NY for Fashion Week. I wasn’t clever enough to have the foresight to make a latergram diary, but running around the city all day combined with watching Buckwild at night prohibited me from posting these earlier. Hashtag, greatestblogger.
Our Chelsea offices are in this building. There’s a huge Anthropologie and spacious wine shop in Chelsea Market, so you can count on me requesting more assignments in NY soon.
Temperatures I am not accustomed to called for dressing in more layers than I thought reasonable.
Inside the Lincoln Center – drinking a latte and not looking at this car.
Applauding all of these well-dressed women in line with me for the BCBG show.
So happy to see beanies and grunge on the runway.
One thing I learned on this trip is that I do not have enough fur.
Bumped in to Rumi Neely. To say she inspires me is an understatement.
Stopped at the Rebecca Minkoff showroom for a meeting with the Social Media team there. It was buzzing and hectic as they frantically prepared for their NYFW show.
Meeting with Uri Minkoff, CEO of Rebecca Minkoff and super nice dude.
This weather is beautiful, but also quite bleak. Time to wear something bright.
Back at the office. Fro Yo and I are very close.
Anthropologie, 1 – Me, 0. Cozy lounge wear I picked up just in case I got stuck in NYC because of the looming blizzard.
Headed to the airport – optimistic my flight won’t be canceled.
   Somehow, I win. Gotcha Nemo.

Bienvenido a Miami

I’ll be posting classic business outfits from this trip shortly. I expected to be relegated to a conference room for most of the trip which prompted me to pack every pencil skirt I own (only 3) and of course, one brightly-colored running outfit (totes wore it twice). Running on the beach is addicting.
