Getting Out for Date Night

Thank you UrbanSitter for sponsoring this post.

After moving to LA, we let our weekly date night fall by the wayside. Balancing work and parenthood – plus a move to a new city – made the concept of date night daunting.  Both of us were eager to get some alone time to try some of the restaurants around our new place. First on the list was kitschy Mexican food restaurant Casa Escobar.  I am the self-proclaimed #1 fan of tacos after all.

For our first night away in a new city, we used the ever-convenient UrbanSitter to secure a babysitter. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s like online shopping, but for childcare. You can read reviews, watch video profiles of each babysitter (I found that part quite comforting because I felt I actually got to know them!) and even read their background checks. Once you’ve found someone you like, request them for the time needed and start planning your getaway.

Our sitter Gaby arrived right on time and Harlowe warmed up to her immediately (by playing Rapunzel, of course). KW and I went to dinner right by our house and of course started talking about Harlowe which made me miss her. I decided to check-in with Gaby and sent her a ‘how’s it going?’ (read: ‘Hi, I’m not always this crazy, but is she still alive?’) text. Gaby promptly responded noting they were at the park having so much fun. What a relief ! The rest of the night, I felt assured knowing Harlowe was in great hands. KW and I enjoyed delicious tacos, virgin margaritas and best of all, uninterrupted, worry-free, time together.

If you’re like us and don’t have family nearby or feel too bad to have your kind-hearted friends watch your offspring all the time, I definitely recommend trying UrbanSitter. It’s a timesaver and lifesaver for busy parents, whether you’re in a last minute pinch or  looking something more consistent, like a part or full-time nanny. I am going to have to use UrbanSitter to find a nanny for baby #2 when the time comes!

They are offering my readers a free month of UrbanSitter membership when you create an UrbanSitter account. Use code FORFREETRIAL and get out on the town, mamas!
