My Clean Beauty Routine in 5 Min

beauty counter lipstick

Raise your hand if you have extra time in the morning. I didn’t think so. Most of us are lucky if there’s time to poop privately (ie before the kids attach themselves to you) so clearly, makeup is a bit of an afterthought. On days that I leave the house for more than just school drop off/pick up, I do love the ritual of applying just a little product. Not only does it liven up my almost colorless face, but many of these products have skincare benefits too which you know I am all about!  I shared several of my favorite clean skin care products earlier and this is seriously the best time to pick some of them up if you haven’t already since the Sephora sale is in full swing for just a few more days! I am a total product hoarder and I LOVE trying new things so I always go a little overboard during the sale to make the most of the discount. Not all of these are from Sephora just FYI, but since the sale is such a sought-after event for the beauty-obsessed (that’s you and I) I’ll link actual products and whenever possible, similar products that can be found at Sephora.

Prep: Good skin needs very little makeup so I apply this overnight resurfacing peel each night which helps minimize the appearance of pores, fine lines, and dark spots plus your skin will be super hydrated so you really do not need to get fussy with your skin in the morning.

Prime: Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35 is my favorite primer right now and TBH half the time it’s all I put on my skin after my moisturizer. I was at an event a few weeks ago and someone asked me how I had no pores. I whipped this out of my bag and had her apply it on the spot. With this, pores are a thing of the past and sun damage is no longer something you need to worry about.

Conceal: This formula is so light and hydrating you won’t even know you are wearing it. It’s quickly surpassing my beloved Cle de Peu concealer and the price point is much better.

Cover: Glo Tinted Moisturizer SPF30+. I recently discovered Glo thanks to one of my girlfriends who is also clean-beauty obsessed and I can not get enough. This moisturizer is creamy, goes on smooth and has amazing coverage for those days you do want it. I usually wear the light color, but when I have a faux tan I add Flesh Glisten Drops or Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Bronzing Drops to the moisturizer and just mix them together on the back of my hand before applying. They both make the most beautiful and natural looking bronzy color and are different price points so get whatever one works best for you. One thing worth mentioning is that Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi has the added benefits of protecting skin from environmental stress and pollution which is great for us Angelenos.

Bronzer: A little bit of this pressed powder in the hallows of the cheeks, on the top of my forehead and down the sides of my nose helps me look contoured but still like me. I wear the Honolulu color and I also LOVE tarte Amazonian Clay Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess. It’s lighter than the Lily Lolo one and slightly less matte which makes it a really good bronzer for the cheekbones or even full-face vs just for contour. When I’m feeling crazy I’ll wear both, but that’s more of a special occasion thing.

Blush: I can’t even handle how pretty this blush is. This company makes some of my favorite products actually… FYI this highlighter gets me compliments every damn time because it is so uniquely beautiful and I love this lipstick so much I send it to friends the minute I find out they’re expecting or simply looking to get started with clean beauty. It’s a perfect everyday color. Back to the blush – I love cream blush and have been partial to them for over a decade because they help you get that youthful glow vs powder brush that can set in fine lines and age you. I want to try this one next.

Highlighter: This is such a great, clean highlighter that looks natural (not glittery) and just gives off the perfect glow. I’ll wear this as a shadow too when I want to make my eyes look more awake or pat it in the inner corner and dab a little bit of their eye polish on my lids to make my eye color pop.

Lipstick: A new favorite is creeping up for me and it’s undeniable. This formula is not only clean but also so smooth and has the best buildable, color pay off. I really love the moisturizing, glossy finish which requires no sticky gloss. My dry lips are glad matte is not going to reign supreme in my lippie drawer anymore. The beautiful packaging makes me feel more luxe each time I apply it too. If you don’t want color for every day, I can not recommend this lip conditioner enough. It is SO moisturizing and calming plus it has this amazing scent. I wear it every night and on the majority of days.

Lashes and Brows: I don’t wear mascara since I have lash extensions and I don’t mess too much my brows because I’ve had microblading. Both are HUGE game changers for me because I have very blonde hair that took a lot of effort to accentuate! Highly recommend both of these things if you need to save time in the morning! If I have a second, I fluff my brows up a bit with this cult favorite, but don’t mess with brows or lashes otherwise.

Set: Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist is the holy grail of setting mists. It gives you the best glow and perfectly sets makeup – even infamously difficult to set concealers won’t crease under this. For concealer, I spray this on my beauty blender and apply it directly under the eyes.
