Birds of a Feather Dress

feather print maxi

If I had to live in one silhouette for the rest of my life, I’d choose maxi dresses. They’re effortless, incredibly comfortable and typically flattering. Being petite, I look for fitted maxis that can easily be taken up or in if necessary. V-neck maxis are ideal if you’re on the shorter side because the cut will elongate you. The empire waist makes it a great maternity option even though it is not a maternity dress. My favorite part of the dress (besides the fun print, of course) is the crossback cut. When your belly protrudes like you ate a basketball, show off the back! This super-affordable crossback dress would be perfect for summer days too.

Wearing: Development by Erica Davies dress via Closet Collective (loving this crossback maxi option) / Topshop sandals / Gigi New York tech wallet (obsessed! They’re on sale!) / Clare V clutch (similar style here and here less than $80) / Origami Owl custom necklace / Rituals nail polish in Cherry Pink c/o / MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus lips / Karen Walker sunnies

What Harlowe Wore: Janie and Jack top & shorts / Saltwater shoes

  • honestly, b.

I am all about pieces that can be worn while pregnant, but not necessarily maternity wear! I like knowing I will be able to wear a piece after baby is here, not just the next few months. Maxi dresses are perfect for this! I like your tip about v-necks for petite gals. This pattern is absolutely gorgeous! Loving Harlowe’s look, too!

This dress is beautiful Bethann!! I really like how you can make a maxi work when you’re pregnant or not, and avoid investing in maternity clothes that won’t be re-worn very often. It’s on my list to invest in more of these – I think they look super cute when they’re tied up at the side as well!!

I would totally pick maxi dresses too, especially when they’re as pretty as this one. My problem is the dresses are usually too long for me because I typically only want to wear maxi dresses with sandals like you’re doing here. Fab look!
